Tristan Spohn 3rd Period

In the city of Flint, not at all related to the Flintstones, a massive crisis has occurred with their water supply. After switching their incoming water from Lake Huron to the Flint River in an effort to save american currency, the water was discovered to be highly corrosive with massive amounts of lead. This wasn't discovered until the complaints about the water looking, smelling, and tasting really funny became overwhelming. Now many poor people are suffering from lead poisoning.

Analysis: I feel this is most relatable to the bubonic plague. Similar to the incident of the Flint River, the disease was found when the people of England started getting resources from another place. By the time it was discovered, in both cases it was too late. On the bright side, if the people of Flint ever become possessed by a real-life incarnation of Superman, the lead in their bodies can protect them from the affects of kryptonite.

  1. I don't really understand why this is even a debate, this is a huge health risk and the government should be doing everything they're able to to help lessen the situation. People are dying because of this development and even more will continue to be poisoned if we continue to stand idle.
