Hsiu-Ying Tseng is a Californian doctor who was arrested 3 years ago when undercover agents pretended to be patients with back problems. She has been convicted of 2nd degree murder for over prescribing drugs. She was found guilty for 23 counts and this is the first time someone has been convicted of murder for a crime like this. Vu Nyguen, Stephen Ogle and Joseph Rovero, all people in their 20s were killed.
This shows the serious problem of abusing the medical system for monetary gain. This is a type of corruption in power that is supposed to be trusted and secure. This is an example of sacrificing lives to elevates one's personal status. In history the Trail of Tears they moved Native People out of their lands and lied about the greatness of where they were going however it was dangerous and the Natives died while those who tricked them into it did not.

ReplyDeleteDoctors are meant to help people not harm them. Was she qualified for this position when she was hired? Prescription drugs should go through a monitoring system before patients are able to pick them up, so that there are no over prescriptions.
The first thing doctors learn is to first do no harm. She must have missed that very important lesson. i cant believe someone would be so cruel and selfish that they would take someones life in order to gain a little extra money.

ReplyDeleteTrusting someone like a doctor comes as second nature.. never once should you have to stop and ask yourself "are they going to try and kill me?"
