Young Americans Shifting US Towards Becoming a Less Religious Nation Randi Thompson
Because religious belief is declining and practices are declining among the generation of Americans born in the last two decades of the twentieth century is shifting the United States to becoming a less religious nation. The growing population of youth adults, ages twenty to thirty, dont belong to any denomination, church, or any organized faith. The percentage of atheist or those who describe their religion as "nothing in particular" have frown to twenty three percent of the United States population compared to sixteen percent at the time of the last comparable survey in 2007. Three of four Americans still have some religious faith, mainly preotestant denominations such as, Mormons, Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, and Hindus. Eighty nine percent of adults say they believe in God. Including a significant proportion on "nones". The changes are reflected Is support for the two main political parties with "nones" now forming the largest single religious group among Democrats while evangelical protestants make up the largest religious block among Republicans.
