Taiwan leader meets China President Randi Thompson

Taiwan says its President Ma Ying Jeou will meet his Chinese counterpart XI Jinping in SIngapore on this coming Saturday. It will be the first meeting ever between these two countries. The men will discuss relations across the Taiwan Straits. China has claimed sovereighty over Taiwan since 1949, when the Nationalists government fled to the Island after the defeat ny the communist. WHitehouse spokesman said the United Syates welcomed any steps to reduce tensions and improve relation.
