Texas Judge Shot Outside Home // Olivia Gillis P3

On Friday around 10:15 PM, Travis County District Judge Julie Kocurek was struck near her home. Officers arrived within 5 minutes of a 911 call and rushed Kocurek to the hospital. Since this event occured so recently, police don't have much information on the reasoning behind the shooting or who did it. The judge was said to be hospitalized, in stable condition as of this morning.
Kocurek has been a judge since 1999 and has been very active in serving throughout the local community. In past years, judges and prosecutors have been targeted pretty frequently as a result of their work in court and throughout their communities. This entire story is very sad and it's even more sad that people tend to target those who do so much for our states/communities/etc. Hopefully more can be uncovered about the story soon so that justice can be served.

  1. I agree with you, it is sad that the people who are getting hurt are the ones helping our communities.

  2. I agree, but I feel like these people who take these jobs for the government should definitely be aware of the threat that awaits them, just because they are so widely hated by certain people.

  3. Its so annoying that people get hurt for doing their job. People should understand that it may not be their personal feelings, it is what they have to do to get paid
