Shooting shut down- Katie Schell (flex)

original: updated Sunday October 25, 2015

Authorities in Spotsylvania county, VA announced at a news conference that 2 students from Riverbend High School were charged with conspiracy to commit murder. The police did not release the names of the students who are currently being held in a juvenile detention center. County Commonwealth Attorney Bill Neely said, "Their plot was to phone in a bomb threat and then shoot people as they came out." The potential disaster first captured the police's attention when a 17 year old boy was arrested and charged for threatening violence over the internet.

The amount of shootings happening in schools all over the country is ridiculous and completely outrageous. I cannot even begin to understand why a 17 year old kid would feel the need to walk into school and pull out a gun! What in the world is happening to these kids to make them go so crazy violent for no good reason? Over the past couple of weeks I have written multiple times about shootings going on in school environments. I don't know if I had been disconnected from the news before but to me it seems like there has been a drastic increase in violence all around the U.S. in the past year. The sources of this violence can be blamed on many things: easy access to guns, unstable people, ex-convicts released from jail. I don't really care what the cause is, I just want the problem stopped.

  1. I agree that these shootings appear in the news too often and need to be stopped. The fact that schools now have to have lockdown drills just to prepare for theses events is just insane. I also agree that one of the main sources of these problems is gun control and immature gun use.

  2. I also agree. Campus shootings are way too common now-a-days. This should not be the case. I also agree that the main reason for these shootings and acts of violence is gun control.

  3. There is no way to justify killings. I wonder what happens in the killers' minds! They are obviously extremely ill.

  4. Yes, it is sad that now we have to prepare for shootings, and bomb threats, I don't know what has changed in children's minds that they now have the ideas to shoot down schools
