Ben Carson on questions about his past: 'Bunch of lies'-- Demi Tomasides period

Election season is underway and so are the backstory gossips. Ben Carson, the retired pediatric neurosurgeon running for the Republican candidacy is currently dealing with attacks that he had a violent past. Carson responded in a CNN news conference that he was a actually a very nice kid, he just had an anger management problem and unless you were in his family or a victim of one of the out bursts there would be no reason you would know about it-- it stayed within an inner circle and weren't public. In fact, many of his childhood friends were interviewed and knew nothing of this "violent past". Carson says, ""This is a bunch of lies, that is what it is. This is a bunch of lies attempting to say I'm lying about my history. I think it's pathetic, and basically what the media does is they try to get you distracted." and that "'there's got to be a scandal. There's got to be some nurse he's had an affair with. There's got to be something.' They have gotten desperate," Carson continued. "Next week, it will be my kindergarten teacher who said I peed in my pants. It's ridiculous. But it's OK because I totally expect it."

I totally agree with Carson. This is all a game that the media is playing with each other. An out-doing game. Who can come up with the juiciest story. I'm not going to lie, I feel bad for the candidates. Every time election season comes around and some journalist is trying to uncover some hidden secret from the candidates' past that, until now, no one would actually care about, thought about or remembered. But then again these people know what they're getting into before they get into it. Also, I would like to point out that it's not like Carson has been secretive about this "violent past" he has had cooped up inside of him since childhood (sarcasm). Carson literally published a book about it and how, yes, he did have anger management issues, but he took support in his faith and it's not a problem now. It's really interesting to see how different elections compare to each other, especially the first ones because, in all honestly, they're not that different from today. I mean now we have succumb to verbal duels instead of actual ones, but still. Pretty similar. The 1828 election was the first time that the race really brought personal stuff into the election. Andrew Jackson was considered a hill billy and his wife was attacked as marrying Jackson while still married to her previous husband (which was technically true). Today, the media is still attacking the candidates' personal lives, only now you open any news app instead of opening any news paper to see what the latest gossip is.

  1. This is very well-written. Different news sources try to compete with each other and see who can find the worst (but for them, it's better) story about a political candidate. Today, it's all about the shock factor. Who can find the most shocking story to attract the most viewers/readers?
