Russia could be banned from the 2016 Olympics- Matthew Taylor

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) recently accused Russian athletes of doping in previous Olympic events, and the Russian government of covering it up. Over 1000 samples were destroyed in Moscow before the WADA could inspect them. The Russian Anti-Doping Agency denies any of the accusations, while the investigation is being handed over to Interpol. Sanctions are being considered against the All-Russia Athletic Federation (ARAF).
Various drug test failures of Russian athletes have been uncovered, and the 24 gold medals won by Russia in 2012 are in jeopardy.

The future appears uncertain for Russia in the upcoming Olympics, and the evidence against them is massive. I can't imagine how they could manage to prove their innocence, after all, even Lance Armstrong went down eventually. It seems the best thing for the ARAF to do now would be to acknowledge their crimes and take steps to repair relations. November the 9th may go down in history as a very bad day for sports, if the investigation turns positive.

  1. Well, if their cheating then they should not be allowed to compete in the Olympics

  2. I believe that they should be given the punishment that suits the problem presented. Cheating is cheating no matter what the circumstances.

  3. I think that Russia's best bet is to admit to the crimes, then take the appropriate actions to regain the trust to participate in the games again
