Summary: The president of the University of Missouri has resigned due to protests against him. Students are claiming that he was refusing to notice that there is an unequal margin of education at the school. The football team went on strike and refused to play until he resigned. One of the players even refused to eat. It was good timing for the president to resign because if the football team hadn't come off strike before their next game, the school would've had to pay a $1 million fine. Many former players supported their team in standing up for equality although some others had the opposite opinion. They believed that these kids weren't appreciating that they weren't paying for anything at college including tuition, meals, and even their football gear.
Analysis: I don't know the full story of what all happened to cause such an uproar from this article but from what I can infer, I support that the football players went on strike. I don't, however, support the one player refusing to eat. I believe that is just a little too much. Yes you are standing up for equality but you should be worrying about your own health too. There seems to be many surges of equality movements that come throughout history. For example, during the Antebellum Age there was the abolitionists and the women's rights activists. The civil rights movement is another example. It's not that there are periods where there aren't equality movements, there are just times where they seem to be a little more driven. Currently there are many racial equality movements rising up around us. I hope to see more victories for equality like this.
