NHL star Patrick Kane was accused of rape by a 21 year old woman, who claims she was a victim of such events in Kane's home in Buffalo, New York. After a 3 month investigation, it was announced that Kane will not be charged. According to attorney Frank A. Sedita III, there was no evidence of the woman's accusations being true, and were even inconsistencies reported in her story about the rape.
This story is especially concerning in that it could have two completely different issues, based on what the truth actually is. Either a man abused a woman, and got away with it 100%, or a woman falsely accused a man of an incredibly serious crime and failed.
I agree this is very concerning. These two issues are both very serious and either way, I think someone needs to punished to learn their lesson, the man or the woman.
ReplyDeleteThis is very confusing like you said because we really don't have any evidence supporting either side. People are getting better and better at hiding information and lying about it, which is extremely alarming.

This is very confusing and concerning. If he did do the crime he got away with it, and somewhat easily too. But, if he wasn't guilty, women could just randomly accuse famous men of rape and could get something, like money or fame, in return.

These types of cases are always hard to solve. You could either potentially let someone get away with rape, or let a liar get their way and convict the alleged attacker. If only there was more evidence, then we'd know for sure.
ReplyDeleteSince I don't know who is lying here, I hope that is its the man that he realizes how wrong that is and doesn't rely on his fame to always get him out, or if it's the woman that lying about that is not only very frowned upon but an insult to the people whio have been raped and their accuser has gotten away.(Alejandra Hernandez 6th period)
