Ferguson Unrest Rachel Webb - 3rd Period
Growing up in the 21st century, I was not exposed to civil rights riots. Now that I am living during this critical time for America, I understand the intensity of the American voice. The people want equality and justice; and they want their voices heard. Some people in Ferguson, Missouri have decided to take a stand against the unfair treatment of national law enforcement. This particular conflict can be compared specifically to the civil rights protests that took place in America in the 1960s. Marches, boycotts, protests, law suits, fights, robberies, and arson can all be affiliated with the unrest of that time period. The unfair treatment towards African Americans has been a problem since slavery and the fight for equality may never end. The president has been summoned recently into the mess and is contemplating whether he should make an appearance in Ferguson or not because the riots have a good chance of escalating if he does.I think he should do a video chat with representatives from both sides of the fight.
