LAX Shooting

On Friday, November 1st, a shooting occurred at LAX airport in Los Angeles, California. The suspect in 23 years old and lives in Los Angeles. The motive for this attack seems to be aimed at TSA agents in the airport. He suddenly demanded one of his roommates drive him to the airport. The roommate took him but sources say they do not think he knew of Ciancia's plans. Around this same time Ciancia was sending questionable text messages to his parents who soon became concerned and alerted authorities. But by the time authorities arrived at his house, he was already gone. At about 9:20 am, Ciancia walked  up to a TSA checkpoint and shot an officer to death. He then began walking through the terminal asking people if they were TSA officers. He shot two other officers who survived with injuries. This incident has raised concerns about the safety of TSA officers as they are unarmed. This caused major delays throughout many airlines and passengers. If convicted, Ciancia could face life in prison or the death penalty.

Whenever a shooting occurs, many questions are raised about the safety of our country and its people. This incident in particular raised concerns because of its location. This happened in one of the largest, most populous airports in the world. It is very scary that these incidents are so sudden and without warning. It is also concerning that the "officers" were defenseless in this type of situation. However, it is beneficial that questions are being raised about the safety of TSA officers and therefore the airport in general.
