Obama: Strikes 'absolutely' in hold if Syria quits chemical arms

Analyze: On Monday President Barack Obama announced that if The President of Syria, Bashar Assad, places his chemical weapons under international control then he will "hold off on striking Syria." It is also assumed that President Barack Obama did not think Congress would authorize the force against Syria. Despite this, President Barack Obama may still attack Syria even if he doesn't receive congressional authorization. The interview in which all of this was revealed came after U.S polls showed that the majority of Americans are not in favor of going to war with Syria.

My personal opinion seems to be cohesive with those opinions of the majority of Americans. I do not think the United States should go to war with Syria because I believe there is too much risk for the safety of our country. I also believe that it would be a very bad idea to go into war without congressional authorization, though since Obama doesn't have to worry about running for reelection there isn't much of a downfall on his part if he chooses to go through with the attacks.

  1. I couldn't agree with you more. Our country seems to be adamantly against war, for obvious reasons and the thought that Obama has seriously considered defying the wishes of the majority is insane to me. This could be indicative of Obama becoming the president he didn't want to be.
