Back in July of 2015, a woman named Sandra Bland was arrested at a traffic stop for allegedly failing to use her signal. The police officer used recessive force to pull her out of her car and proceeded to get extremely physical and aggressive. 3 days later, Sandra Bland was found dead in her jail cell. The police officer was fired as of last week and was formally fired because of public distaste and his court ruling was definitely not in his favor and the court called him disgusting.

This has been a very controversial case. Justice has been served, and that police officer is not representing the law anymore, which is about all we can do, police brutality needs to be stopped 

Romney Disapproves Trump (Bella Di Fazio 8th)

Previous presidential candidate Mitt Romney, says we should "shun" Trump because he said Trump is a disgrace to the Republican Party. Romney has also stated that Trump is a "fraud" and a "phony" and that his promises are as "worthless as a degree from Trump University" (which was an actual college that failed miserably) Trump later said that Romney is a "stiff" and doesn't know what he's talking about.

Trump usually tries to ignore problems until they go away. For your information, they usually get worse. I'm afraid that if he's elected, he will try to ignore our problems and end up sinking the U.S. further into debt and strain us with other foreign allies resulting in possibly another recession or even another Great Depression.

Luz Lopez(4th period)- The cure for your junk food cravings? Sleep

     A new study suggests if you crave junk food after a hectic day, you're  probably sleep deprived. Researchers have found that lack of sleep may lead to an increase in appetite for junk food. Lack of sleep can be a risk factor because it boosts hunger. Those in the sleep-deprived group tend to eat snacks with more carbohydrates and nearly twice as much fat and protein.
     This article was very interesting because I didn't know this. I always thought that if you were hungry it was because you sweat to much or work out to much. This reminded ,me of when a whole bunch of people started gaining weight from eating to much.

A Super, Super Tuesday - Emily Rosuck- 4th

The votes are in. Kind of.

Voters went into the polls today, Super Tuesday, to vote for the Republican and Democratic Primary, in a dozen states. Clinton has a projected 6 state win while Trump has 5. Trailing behind, Cruz has 2 state wins, his home state, Texas, and our neighbor Oklahoma, while Bernie Sanders has 2 state wins in Vermont and Oklahoma over Clinton. OK is big for Cruz and Sanders, though they have only 2 state wins, Cruz also has Iowa and his wins of TX and OK are rationale enough for him to carry on in the race, and Sanders is projected to win over multiple states in the North East as well as Minnesota and Colorado, but tonight held big winnings for Clinton and Trump.
The Republican Establishment has expressed growing concern due to Trump's success in the GOP polls, where he jumped from support from 30% of Republican voters to 49%, placing him 20 points ahead of Cruz and Rubio. Given his controversial rhetoric, stances on immigration, and his failure to disavow support from David Duke, a former leader of the KKK,  it's no wonder that officials are concerned that if Trump is the Republican nominee that not only will the Red party lose the White House, but the Senate as well.

In Sweden's first unstaffed food shop, all you need is a phone!

In a small town in Sweden, one man has come up with a brilliant idea! Robert Illjason has developed a convenience store without any employees. In order to access the store, customers download his app, and sign up for the service. To get into the store physically, customers open their app and request to enter. To buy an item, they scan it with their phone, and it charges their account. Since Sweden is such a beautiful country, there has been no burglary attempted on the store, but just in case, Robert has installed 6 security cameras, and an alert system on the app. The main problem, however, is helping older generations understand and use the technology needed to use the store. 

Technology is always an issue with older people, because they typically aren't as adept at understanding new products, or open to different things. This has always been the case, though, and with time, many people do open up to new technology. For example, the internet. At first, many people were struggling to understand the internet- how it works, why it's necessary, but eventually, they come around, and accept new technology and it's benefits. 

Oil prices stop crashing -Avery Yoss

Recently, up until now, investors around the world have been in a frenzy over the oil prices dropping. But now the oil price has gone up by 30 percent making it to $34 a barrel and investors are very excited. This is not good news for those of us who has to pay for gas for our cars, prices will be going up.

This is kind of like the time during the Great Depression when prices of most everything went up because of the crazy amount of people who were out of jobs and the loss of mass production.

Ohio School Shooting-- Madeleine Norton, 4th period

Allegedly today a 14-year-old student opened fire in a cafeteria during school in Ohio, injuring four other pupils and later being led into custody. Currently being questioned right now, it is uncertain whether the victims were random or targeted. But none of them are fatally ill, safe to say. 

Dana Ford of CNN News reports, "Two of the victims were shot, Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones told reporters. The other two were injured 'either by shrapnel from the handgun or by injuries getting away from the active shooter,' he said. All four are expected to survive. The shooting happened at Madison Junior-Senior High School in Middletown, Ohio. The sheriff identified the suspected gunman as James Austin Hancock, 14. He was taken into custody outside of the school, and faces charges as a juvenile of attempted murder, felonious assault, inducing panic, and making terroristic threats, Jones said. Madison Local Schools said in an earlier Facebook post that three students had been hurt and all others were safe."

Not only is this shocking to hear in its abrupt harshness, what with a young eighth grader getting a hold of weaponry and injuring fellow pupils (intentional or not), but unsurprising in the cruel fact that this has become almost a norm in the United States. Our country is the highest in the world for random shootings, especially those at school. It's terrifying to see, and makes one constantly wonder about the safety and freedoms implemented by our state and federal government. This can be synthesized with issues in the past concerning our rights to bear arms (starting from the Revolutionary War and onwards).

One question I personally have in contribution to the ongoing elections is this: besides large issues our country is facing foreign policy-wise, which candidates are conversing openly and how about planning to fix "smaller" domestic issues surrounding states, roads, shootings, drug laws, alcoholism, etc? How are they approaching these problems, and does that open our eyes to the viewpoints we have about these certain candidates?
