Illinois Shooting - Sloan Daley

Police responded to an active shooter situation at the Henry Pratt Company in Aurora, Illinois today. The suspect is now in custody, however the company is still under lockdown. Multiple patients have already been taken to two different hospitals. However, since this event happened just a few hours ago, there is no released number of deaths or injuries because people’s conditions are not determined yet. A witness who ran out of the Henry Pratt Company building when the shooting began described hearing shots and recognizing the shooter as he evacuated. He has not said if the shooter is identified, but he does know that he is familiar. Victims believe the shooter is a coworker of theirs. The extent of many people’s injuries is unknown. The shooting happened about 40 miles away from chicago. Hopefully as more details are released there will be some light shed on this unimaginable event.

This shooting is broadcasted very big, like many mass shootings. This is very similar to the school shooting in Parkland, Florida that took place one year and a day ago. It is crazy that these tragic events continue to happen. At schools, businesses, and even just in public this continues to be an issue. People will keep fighting to make change and hoping to make a difference.

  1. It is really hard for me to understand why people do these things. It is such a sad thing to even think about and no one should have to fear going to their job or school because someone could possibly bring a gun and begin shooting.
