A winter storm in Hawaii has produced strong winds, high surf, and yes, even snow- Fiona Graybill

The 50th state experienced a strong storm early this morning causing power outages and at the Polipoli state park, the storm brought some snow. The high winds on Saturday and Sunday ushered in the storm. These powerful winds are forecasted to stick around until 6 p.m HST on Tuesday.

Though not mentioned in the article, climate change has had a large impact on the size and strength of storms that have pummeled the United States within the past few years. From the mid to late 1800s and through the early 1900s, the United States started down a path of large emissions of CO2 by way of industrialization. Years and years worth of CO2 being funneled into the atmosphere at the hands of billions of people is coming back to wreak havoc on the earth we are destroying. The article does not connect the powerful storm to climate change, but that doesn't dismiss the fact that we are changing our climate and our we are feeling the punch of our actions.
