Government shutdown becomes longest in US history.- Maya Friedmann

Today marks the 22nd day of the government shutdown, which makes it the longest shutdown in the history of America. Approximately 800,000 federal employees have been working without pay for the last 3 weeks because Trump and congress have not been able to reach a deal to reopen the government. No progress has been made over the $5.7 billion for the construction of the border wall along the border. Many have not received assurances that they will be paid once the shutdown ends and many Americans can not afford to miss a paycheck. The president threatened to keep the government closed for months or even years and experts say that the effects of this could heavily impact the nation and could cost us more than the cost of the $5.7 billion dollar wall.

I think that the fact that the government has shut down for so long is insane. This shows how stubborn our president is acting because the shutdown itself will cost us more than the wall and I think that closing the government down for so long, and possibly even longer, is a complete waste of time and money.

  1. I agree that the fact of this is very insane. And the fact that our president is persistant and this is causing us to lose a ton of money. Building the wall in addition to this shutdown just adds to the money that we are losing.

  2. This is incredible. There are better ways to deal with this situation. It feels like they're just waiting around.
