1 Dead and 12 Hospitalized from Drug Overdose - Sloan Daley

A mass drug overdose at a home in Chico, California, has killed one person and left a dozen more in the hospital injured. The main drug involved is believed to be fentanyl. This is the most commonly used substance in overdoses. The incident was reported to authorities around at 9:12 a.m. Saturday morning. They gave them Naloxone, which blocks or reverses the effects of opioids and is most often carried by first responders. Two officers who responded to the scene also went to a hospital after they said they felt the effects of a drug similar to fentanyl. Both officers were treated and released. At the scene, one man was pronounced dead, and the other 12 were hospitalized. The other substances they ingested remains unidentifiable, however the case is still open. After such a mass casualty incident, it is fortunate that only one was lost so far.

This event reminds me of all of the people that have passed due to drug overdoses. There have been so many losses especially in the entertainment world, that have gone too soon because of drugs. People like Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, and so many more. Drug addiction and even just drug use gets to people too often. Hopefully lives stop being taken from this cause.
