Earlier today, as Larry Nassar was getting his sentence for 40-125 years in prison he shared his last words of freedom with the courtroom. Larry Nassar was a world renowned doctor who worked with the USA Gymnastics and Michigan Sate University. He is in prison now for sexual abusing young girls for 20 years. Famous gymnast Simone Biles was one of the victims of Nassar. He apologized to the court and was then sentenced off.
This can related back to the progressive era where women were beginning to stand up for themselves that would eventually lead the passing of the 19th amendment.
I'm proud of all of the athletes that have come forward and stood up to the evil actions of Larry Nassar. What he did deserves the sentence that he was given. I hope that he is truly sorry. Maybe he can use this time to contemplate the severity of his actions.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that so many young women have stood up against this issue, it is good that this problem is being recognized. Hopefully the spotlight surrounding sexual abuse will decrease the occurrence of it in the future.
ReplyDeleteI am happy for all the women who stood up against Nassar's actions. It is terrible that a person would do what he did.

ReplyDeleteIt’s empowering to see that many women are standing up for themselves and no longer letting things go just because of their “role” in society
It infuriates me that some people have the nerve to abuse their power. These women will forever be traumatized for what he did.
