Cambridge 10-Year-Old Making A Difference One Bag Lunch At A Time

October 1, 2017 3:10 PM

Summary: 10 year old, Liam Hannon, has discovered a way to spread love throughout his neighborhood. He, and now some of his friends, make paper bag lunches and give them to those experiencing homelessness around him. He calls the project "Liam's lunches of love," and got the idea from his summer reading camp. He says, even if he is only making a small difference, he's still really happy for doing something good for the world.

Analysis: First off, I'm happy to see that present day summer camps can influence young kids to make changes to their community, and that a kid this young would have the initiative to help and be passionate about it. I also feel like in the future we will see more young kids making a difference in their communities... and that Liam set a sort of precedent for this. People underestimate younger generations but their actions are starting to create great changes.

  1. I like this post because nowadays there is a sort of disgust with homeless people in our society. We need to remember that these are still people and just need a little help to get going again.

  2. This is so empowering to see a kid do so much to change society. Hopefully this is an example to others to help those in need.

  3. Instead of turning a blind eye, he did the right thing. I hope that the people were able to put more money towards other things instead of food now that they have food.

  4. This is amazing! I agree with the fact that a lot of younger people may also be helping to make a difference in our world. Liam is definitely a key factor to this. He has made others see that it is possible for ANYONE to make a difference. I think that's fantastic.

  5. It's really refreshing to see something so kind like this when there's so much bad going on right now. Even if it's something small, anyone can make a difference, and it's great to see someone so young doing this.

It makes me so happy to see someone helping the homeless. It melts my heart. Many people judge homeless people prematurely and aren't willing to help, but the fact that this young kid is looking beyond the obvious and is spreading love is amazing!
