Texas Tech Shooting - Amy Mills

A Texas Tech University police officer was fatally shot at the police station Monday night, Jonathan Seaborn, the university spokesman, told CNN. The suspect fled on foot but was later arrested, according to a tweet. The campus was on lockdown after the shooting until the suspect was taken into custody. "Earlier this evening, Texas Tech Police made a student welfare check," a statement said. "Upon entering the room, officers found evidence of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Officers brought the suspect to the police station for standard debriefing. During this time, the suspect pulled a gun and shot an officer in the head. The officer is deceased." Neither the officer or suspect are known at the moment. As this is an ongoing investigation, no further news is available at the time.

This was written by Ralph Ellis and Tony Marco from CNN on October 9th. This article was written to inform the public about the school shooting, and the safety of the students there.

  1. To quote the Onion, "'No way to prevent this,' says only nation where this regularly happens." The number of shootings America has had in the last decade has been far higher than it should be, and I think it's ridiculous and even dangerous for Congress to always say "now is not the time to talk about gun control," after every shooting incident. If now is not the time to talk about gun safety, then when will be? How many people must die before our government realizes that we need to act?

  2. This is horrible and so unexpected that there was a shooting on a school campus.

  3. This is a tragic event, and it was the first I've heard of this. It's sad and kind of scary that shootings barely get reported on unless they are mass ones. Americans have become almost numb to gun violence, and that's a huge problem.

more and more massive shootings are happening. this makes me question how serious or how deep we should look into the 2nd amendment and if the government should implement stricter laws when it comes to firearms.
