In Daytona Beach, four students had a terrifying experience with a lyft driver after having a fun night out. They used the taxi-like service to get back to the Bethune Cookman University about two miles away. However, their fear was instilled when the driver started suggesting to take them somewhere else to have fun and refusing to let them out of the car. Finally, the four girls convinced him to let them out by calling 911 and putting the dispatcher on the speaker. Since then, other students have been warned and lyft has been informed. The girl has been paid back and the company ensured the driver's account to be deleted. Other legal measures are to be covered by Lyft.
Personally, I am terrified of anything like this happening. You see it happen in shows and movies but it even more terrifying when you have real-life examples. Situations like this and other human trafficking related scenarios are becoming a major problem in our country. As a teenager, this article is super relevant because we are so caught up in the big shootings and terrorist attacks that we forget about the dangers in our own neighborhoods.

This is unbelievable. It makes me scared knowing this because I use services like Lyft often.

ReplyDeleteThis is very scary knowing that my boyfriend uses Uber which is similar to Lyft. Apps like these I don't think should be in effect in the first place because they are dangerous. Parents teach their kids to not trust strangers but with apps like these, thats exactly what were doing .
ReplyDeleteThis is so scary... so many people who can't drive use uber and lyft, and it is really important that these companies hire safe and trustworthy people, which should be a given.
