Northern California Wildfires | Mica Stout

Today, Monday October 9,2017, Santa Rosa California was scorched. 100+ people were sent to hospitals, 10 were burned to death, and 20,000 people had to evacuate. It was said to be one of the most destructive wildfires in history destroying at least 1,500 buildings. It spread over 8 counties. There were so many ashes that it covered the sunlight and "fell like snowflakes."

Many fires occur daily, but I've never seen anything this destructive. Simple things like cigarette butts and something flammable sitting in the sun can cause a huge mess like that. It's not fair to the citizens of Cali. that they're home burned down by something. When I read that it "fell like snowflakes", it reminded me of the Great Depression and the dust bowl that blew around all the dirt, from the choppy dry land, all over the place.

When I was little I accidentally set a bathroom trashcan on fire and it was caused by burning wax from a candle. What I remembered was how fast it spread and the can was on fir literally within 1 second. It's very dangerous to carry flammable items around a please that could easily react to it, so I think there should be some sort of prevention device that can stop it from spreading too much.
