Northern California wildfires- Joaquin Sanchez

There were huge fires that has hit Northern California, residents subject to evacuation are about 400,000, but there are going to be many more because there are still fires that are still burning within the forest. Cal Fire incident Commander Bret Gouvea said, “The containment percentage are continuing to go up,” “It has been our mission, our top priority, to get people back into their homes and back to some normalcy.” PG&E are expected to restore power and get gas to the region by/or before late Monday, which is good because authorities are not letting people return home until it’s safe and utilities are restored. But it may be a while before things are safe and back to normal.  Sonoma County Sheriff Rob Giordano said,” I would expect to find some of the missing in their burned homes. We have a list of people who have not been found who we think are in their home.”  There has been more than 1,000 missing reports received in the county, and about 88 people remained unaccounted for as of Monday afternoon. Sonoma County Sheriff Rob Giordano also said that residents looking to get back into some of the most fire-damaged neighborhoods may have a long wait before authorities set up checkpoints, escorts, and nightly curfews to safely usher them. The combined deaths of the Northern California fires including the Tubbs, Pocket, Nuns, Oakmont and Atlas fires are 41. The first death (a fire worker) in the 80 day firefighting effort happened Monday morning. This Monday morning, Cal Fire reported Tubbs, Santa Rosa, and Calistoga to be the most destructive blaze with 70% contained. The tubs Fire has burned now over 36,390 acres. The author of this article is Robert Salonga, Erin Baldassari, and Ethan Baron. I think because there are so many different authors for this one article that the information is reliable. Because they (the 3 authors) could’ve divided this article into sections and that would make the authors have more time to do their research. I do not know much about authors, only that they work for The Mercury News. This article was written/published on October 16, 2017 at 6:09 PM. This time/date affects this article by it being more recent, because it was published today the information is more updated then information about this article’s topic a week ago. This article was written to let people know that the Northern California has been hit with some pretty bad fires. This article was written to let people know what has/had happen to the Northern part of California. The Tennessee Valley also are a big concern for wild fires, with 14 people dead, and more than 2,400 structures were burned or damaged by the fire
