On Sunday night, America witnessed the most horrifying and deadliest mass shooting in modern American history. The shooter, Stephen Paddock, stayed on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Hotel and showered bullets down during a Jason Aldean concert. Police say that Paddock not only had an arsenal in his hotel room, but also in his home 80 miles away. There were "16 rifles and a handgun were found in the room. Several of the rifles had scopes of them. Authorities found 18 firearms, explosives and several thousand rounds of ammunition in Paddock's Mesquite, Nevada, home". After killing 59 and injuring at least 527 people, Paddock died of a self inflicted gun shot wound.
Eric Paddock, his brother, said that he had no idea of this.
In light of these events, a question is brought up : what are we going to do? There was an entire arsenal found in this mans home and more in his hotel room. How did he get access. What will the government do to prevent this from happening. Many Americans today want to keep their 2nd amendment but to the expense of how many lives? How many people will die before Americans will learn how to stop fighting fire with more fire, in fact with explosives(also found on Paddocks hotel room). I can speak for many people when I say that I am tired of people dying because we have close to no gun control. At this point I wish the government would do something, anything to put us just an inch of progress forward.
People seem to enjoy avoiding fixing obvious issues until unfortunate events occur - and sometimes they ignore the chance to amend things. WOW, America is great.
ReplyDeleteWhat I want to know. How did this guy get that many guns? Isn't there a limit to how many firearms you can buy? 17 for gods sake. 17 Firearms. Something obviously is gonna go down if someone buys 17 firearms.
ReplyDeleteThis is mind boggling. "Eighteen firearms, explosives, and several thousand rounds of ammunition." Wow. America most definitely needs more strict gun laws, this is insane. Not only do gun laws need to improve, but the people do too.
