Katelyn Thompson- Hurricane Nate weakens to a tropical depression
http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/08/us/hurricane-nate-landfall/index.html
This article was written by Madison Park, Steve Almasy, and Dakin Andone and published by CNN. As hurricane season reaches its peak, hurricane Nate was downgraded to a category 1 tropical depression late Sunday morning. The maximum sustained winds dropped to 35 mph and storm surged areas near the Gulf Coast will gradually subside as the week carries on. Hurricane Nate made its second US landfall in Biloxi, Mississippi late Saturday night, with 85 mph winds. Unfortunately this wasn't the first time hurricane devastation has hit Mississippi. "It was the first hurricane to make landfall in Mississippi since Hurricane Katrina in 2005." Nate has knocked out the power of over 67,000 homes so far, mainly in Alabama. The Hurricane is even worse in countries further south such as Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Honduras.

Natural disasters and disasters caused by humans themselves are hurting our country. I pray that those affected can recover and stick together.
ReplyDeleteAlthough it caused some damage, I'm glad this storm wasn't as devastating as the last few have been. Th last thing the world needs right now is another category 4 hurricane.
ReplyDeleteI'm very relieved to know that this is a tropical storm, although this may still cause damage- it is much better than a hurricane.
ReplyDeleteIt sucks, though, to know that tragedies like these are caused by global warming and can be prevented by a simple change in everyone's lifestyle. That will sadly never happen. I am glad to hear that this storm was less catastrophic than others recently.
