Current Events: Charlottesville mayor Slams White Supremacist
Officials in Virginia denounced Richard Spencer, a white supremacist, and dozens of his supporters held a rally holding Tiki Torches on Saturday night. They all dressed similarly and wore dark sunglasses and chanted their racist beliefs and “You can not replace us, you will not erase us”. The Mayor of Charlottesville tweeted a rather direct message towards the supremacy group saying that “Another despicable visit by neo-Nazi cowards. You are not welcome here! Go home! Meantime we are looking at our legal options. Stay Tuned.” This situation is now being closely monitored by Charlottesville authority and they plan to stop the terrible messages of hate.

I am so glad that steps are being taken to bring these people down, because we do have freedom of speech, and freedom of religion, but when the messages you are sending out are so hateful and offensive to millions of people it should simply not be allowed. Hopefully Virginia authorities find a just way to discipline these people. America has come such a long way from the 16th and 17th centuries so why are some people still stuck there? There is still a obscene amount of hate in America which should have had zero tolerance from the beginning.

  1. I'm so happy that America is making some progress in getting rid of this discriminatory hate that is running rampant through the country. It's small but with all these set backs given our current politics, a small win seems like the best thing.

  2. I'm glad things are actually being done to put down and prevent these white supremacist demonstrations. It's crazy that they are still even allowed to gather. Freedom of speech should not included blatant hatred.

  3. I'm proud of America with the fact that they are actually starting to take a step towards a more unified nation, versus focusing about hate, which although is not as prevalent- is a big issue.
