Sam Wood - Eminem Vs. Donald Trump

On the BET awards, the iconic rapper Eminem stood up against racism and performed a freestyle rap against Donald Trump. In his rap, he mentions the tweets on Twitter about the NFL players kneeling and he also mentions how our President is distracting our country from more important issues such as Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. He was recognized by Colin Kaepernick on twitter, the quarterback who started the kneeling movement as well as many others.

Eminem may have lost some fans who are Trump supporters. It will be interesting to see if any other artists will now speak up against our current president or if they will "stay in their lane"
 and stick to music.

  1. I thought it was smart of Eminem to show his feelings and beliefs in a song. I think he played it safe by taking this action. If anything it makes me love Eminem even more because he's so outspoken and bold.

  2. I think it was very brave of Eminem to stand up for his beliefs. It shows that he does't just care about fame. I agree that it would be interesting to hear the stances of other artists.

  3. I think its great that Eminem stood up for what he believes in and stood up for the kneeling athletes and minorities. I think it'll be interesting to hear other political stances from artists as well...

  4. Although I've never really followed his music, I really respect him for doing this. I think that celebrities and other socially powerful figures need to be speaking out about these issues, but those who have done so so far have been in the wrong manner. In the future, artists should take similar approaches.

  5. As a big Eminem fan, I thought his "roasting" of Trump was very tasteful. Although I automatically love anything that has to do with bashing our president, this takes the cake.
