Summary: In this article written by Annette Heist for NPR states how twenty one year old Nisha Pradhan is diagnosed with anosmic, a smell disorder in which a person is born without a
sense of smell. This diagnosis in particular can be very alarming due to the fact that not only is your sense of smell is lost due to this unfathomable condition but also the way you taste things. As these conditions are set with from the start of birth her growing concerns for her safety tend to arise in her daily life and she does things and shows how the raising awareness for such conditions is very crucial. This condition can also play in effect as you grow older in the form of hypsomia which is considered a diminished sense of smell. Signs of this condition specifically can be early indicators of Alzimers disease and other diseases as well that are neurodegenerative.
Analysis: Before I read this article I had no absolute knowledge of the information prior. I did know of smell lose before this but didn't know it had a name in patrticular for it so when I did I was quite surprised. This article in particular really emphasizes the idea how conditions like these and health in particular should have more awareness and more support since it will affect our lives when we get older eventually.
Synthesis: This condition can be connected to Dementia, a condition in which memeory loss occurs instead of losing your sense of smell. Both of these diagnosises are both very similar in the ways it's caused. In addition both of these conditions are being more and more aware of each day and have had raised huge amounts of awareness to find sources of remedys to heal these types of illnesses.
