This article published by the Washington Post was highlighting the disasters that were a result of hurricane Matthew. It said that communities in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina, most specifically the communities within the states of North and South Carolina. Although not the most lethal hurricane the America has faced 19 people in the US have perished. Unfortunately Hurricane Matthew was not as merciful on the island nation of Haiti with hundreds of deaths attributed to the Hurricane. Furthermore the storm has contaminated the drinking water and has resulted in a cholera outbreak unleashing even more wrath on the Haitian people. In America the storm has caused record high flooding in some areas and a breach in Lake Benson Dam, and major damage to South Atlantic coast.
I think that the damage hurricane Matthew has caused has been very unfortunate. This article was very hard for me to read due to the amount of death and pain for the people of Haiti, and southern united states. My paternal grandmother lives in Florida and was fortunate enough not be severely affected. It's sad to think that people's houses have been completely demolished and that emergency response units will not be able to reach all of those in need. I really hope all who are having trouble will receive the best care from response teams they can get.
