Jay'La Sims - U.S. Adds Seven Types of Bees to Endangered Species List for First Time

SUMMARY: 7 type of bees were once lively and active in Hawaii. These 7 bees are now the first to be added on the federal list of endangered and threatened species. They are endangered because of habitat loss, wildfires and the invasion of nonnative plants and insects. These bees once crowded Hawaii but surveys have concluded that their population has plummeted. These bees are crucial to the U.S. economy. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service also want to add the rusty patched bumble bee.

ANALYSIS: in this article a specific person that wrote it isn't listed. Instead Reuters a national news company is listed. This article shows the importance of this situation and informs others of what is going on. These bees are important to the U.S. economy. They help with production of fruit , vegetables and nuts. I think this is a very important topic and something needs to be done. This can connect to the year of locust and when the soil was bad in Jamestown.

  1. This makes me so sad. People don't care nearly enough about the bees. They mean so much to our world and we need to do whatever we can to save them. SAVE THE BEES!!!

  2. Save the bees yo. I hate bees in general because they sting, but I don't want them all to go EXTINCT.

  3. It's definitely not good that bees are going extinct. I think they are very important not only for the economy, but the environment as well.
