Summary: Donald Trump has said himself that he does not pay federal income tax for a long time. Because of a $916 million tax loss in 1995, Trump claims it's enough to avoid 18 years of paying taxes. Trump has not yet confirmed nor denied he doesn't pay taxes. He claims he pays tons of taxes but has yet to release any documents that support his statement. As Hillary Clinton put it, Trump has "paid zero in taxes, zero for our vets, zero for our military, zero for health and education". If Trump were to release his tax forms from his $916 million tax loss that "came from deprecation" then people might know why he doesn't pay his taxes.
Analysis/Synthesis: Donald Trump not paying taxes is such a huge thing and some people even commend him for it. Trump even says it makes him smart for not paying taxes, but tax evasion (also referred to as tax fraud) is a federal crime and something he shouldn't get away with. If Trump does in fact pay taxes, he should step up and say so if he wants any chance of his demographic voters to trust in him. Similar to the Richard Nixon Watergate, Nixon had payed people to tape into the democratic party's phones and such. He denied having any relation with the incident, but was later revealed to have connections with it. In all his best efforts Nixon failed, and Trump will face the same consequences if he's not careful.
