Summary: Hurricane Matthew is causing Haiti residents to evacuate the island immediately because of the severity of the storm. It has winds up to 150 miles per hour and flash floods that are very dangerous. Matthew is expected to make a brutal landfall on Jamaica's southern coast, on the capital Kingston and home to the oil refinery. This severe weather is determined to begin today, Sunday. On the other hand, Haiti is getting up to 40 inches of rain and 25 inches in Jamaica which could trigger a life threatening flash floods and landslides. Albert Moulin, Haiti's interior ministry spokesman, stated that people have already started evacuating residents located in small, sandy islands in the south just to be safe. Just knowing these facts shows how dangerous and life threatening this storm will be and become. The U.S stated and informed that there would be limited time for safe departure and they also got permission from the government that they are allowed to leave the country for a period of time. The U.S Navy said that there are 700 family members of Haitian government who will take refuge in Florida until the storm passes. Matthew could potentially effect the Bahamas and the East Coast of the United States. The U.S hurricane center rated Matthew a four out of a five scale on the Saffir- Simpson Scale of hurricane intensity. This hurricane will cause economic distractions to countries who are already poor and make things even worse.
Analysis: This article was produced by CNBC News, informing us on what is happening to these poorer small countries in the path of Hurricane Matthew. They have great images of the storm to track it and see where it is going to strike next. It is incredibly sad to read this news and know there is nothing that can be done to stop it from happening. The U.S is a great help to other countries in need it showing how generous we our by letting residents from other counties stay on our land until the storm passes. It makes sense that it is essential/important individuals and their families who are begin sheltered as they may need to make important decisions about the country during and after the storm. This event reminds me of Hurricane Katrina because it was one of the most catastrophic natural disasters in the United States. Many people lost everything from personal property to loved ones. There was nothing anyone could do at the time other than to evacuate. They had a choice to leave and some chose to stay. These people in the islands do not have a choice. They are locked in wherever they are, praying that the storm will pass quickly and weaken.

It is a shame that Haiti and other poor countries are having to go through such devastating natural disasters almost regularly. Hopefully funds are being raised and volunteers are being recruited to help out.
