On June 26, 2015 President Obama ruled same-sex marriage legal in the United States, changing the lives of many. Particularly those opposed to same-sex relationships were conflicted in their wedding businesses with the question of whether or not to refuse service to same-sex weddings. The recent ruling passed made it legal for businesses to do so. Another significant change made to the Marriage Law was the substitution of "a man and a woman" to "two people". Some have found the exemptions to be irrelevant and unnecessary while others believe that they could have gone further.
The same-sex marriage law last year was a huge stepping stone for the LGBT community, however, there are still many opposed to that lifestyle and will go out of their way to make that visible. The call for equality over all peoples is needed to show that this new law is unnecessary and makes it okay to openly discriminate against the LGBT. Respect and humbling are simple factors that would change the situation completely and open peoples eyes to see that there are others that deserve the same equality that others receive. Continuing to fight for these rights with persistence will guarantee change eventually.
