NASA Chases Down Astroid:
NASA is sending out a space probe to track down a potentially very dangerous astroid. The name scientists have given this large rock is "Bennu". the space probe will fly around for two years until it finds the astroid, then it will take a sample of it and bring it back to the scientists in America to test it and determine if it will collide with earth. The launch is scheduled on September 8th at 7:05 ET. Scientists say that the probe is scheduled to find the astroid in August of 2018.

synthesis:
I think it's a good idea to go search for this astroid because it is a potential danger threat and has a big chance that it will eventually collide with earth. I agree that they should take a sample of it, but since it is a robot smashing and collecting the samples, there's a chance that it will not be able to. I think that two years is a long time to study the astroid. A lot could happen between now and 2018. I think NASA should send a couple more space probes into space just in case the first one isn't able to get a sample or malfunctions.

  1. I completely agree, NASA is extremely important and wise, so if they feel a probe should be put in space to monitor the astroid then it should happen!

  2. I read an article about the same thing but what is interesing the New York Times didn't focus as much on how dangerous the astroid is but on the potential for discoveries on the beginning of life.

  3. I think it's really important for nasa to invest in this asteroid due to its danger, and also the potential discoveries they could make.

  4. I'm glad you decided to cover this. Its important to know about things that could potentially affect our future, especially out in space.

  5. I also think its a good idea to install the space probe into space, if anything is at risk for danger, there needs to be something to stop it
