Samsung's exploding phone - Wallis Brown

Last month, Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 7, a large tablet-like phone with a sleek design and a long battery life. The release of the Note 7 made Samsung-lovers everywhere very excited. This new phone would allow them to use their device's features for a longer time than if they used another phone. However, it was recently revealed that there is a major flaw in the design of the Note 7. There have been many reports of the devices exploding in the hands of the users, some causing burns to the skin. The most recent case was that of a six-year-old boy in Brooklyn, who while using the phone was burned by the exploding phone. He was rushed to the hospital, and the Galaxy Note 7 was recalled.

This is an example of failed technology. This story resembles that of the development of dynamite. Dynamite was originally designed to simplify making tunnels for trains. However, the explosive nature of dynamite was quickly turned violent, and was soon turned into a weapon. While the Note 7 was not turned into a weapon, it is similar in that it was meant to be harmless, and turned into an explosive.

  1. Although this is important, it really isn't news. Lithium Ion batteries have been exploding for quite some time now, and no now has done anything about it yet.

  2. I also heard about how Samsung's exploding phones have become a concern on planes. Passengers are being requested to refrain from charging their phones just in case. These phones are dangerous, and could put a lot of people in danger if one would explode in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
