Qiaunci Jones- Mattress Company Bashed For "Twin Tower Sale" Commercial

A Texas mattress company, Miracle Mattress, puts up a commercial promoting its “Twin Tower sale,” which ended with a pair of employees crashing into two towers of mattresses.  It received a lot of clout, but it wasn't in a good way; most people believed it was a disrespect to 9/11. Included in the 20-second clip, the woman says, "We'll never forget."  The company has apologized, but maybe it isn't enough.

Time, a popular company that keeps you updated on what's going on today, wrote this article. This article was posted on Sept. 8, 2, 2016 only 3 days away from the 15th anniversary of 9/11. This article is important because of the emotional connect that people have with that certain date. I can understand that all they wanted to do was promote their brand, yet the way of showing it came off very offensive. Everyone knows what happened during 9/11 and hearing about this commercial is destined to be judged. The twin tower situation was uncalled for; it was like a playful way of the actual event where many people lost their lives. We will never forget.

  1. I agree with you, although they did not mean to offend people, they did, so maybe something more than "sorry" is necessary. Its weird to me that before the commercial aired, many people watched and approved of it, and out of all those people, no one though of it as offensive.

  2. This is very shocking to me that people did not even realize how offensive this commercial is. Hundreds of thousands of innocent people died that day, and a simple apologize is not acceptable. I personally believe that our country needs to punish them for what they have done.

  3. From what I understand the store has actually had to close because of all the outrage and protestors they are receiving.

  4. I agree with both yours and the comments above. This article expresses something very true...making a joke out of a situation that effected so many people in America can cause a lot more damage to those who were effected.

  5. Okay, I get that they didn't realize how badly it could've been taken, but did no one, during the brainstorming, writing, producing, and filming ever think, "Oh this might be offensive to other people?" Overall, I think those people have every right to be upset.

  6. Watching this video was physically painful for me. I think it really disrespects all of the people and families that 9/11 affected and still continues to affect today.

  7. It's one thing to have a commercial addressing a terrorist attack that changed the America to raise awareness and it's another to make fun of the situation. 9/11 is still as sensitive of a subject as it was 15 years ago. Lives were lost, families were broken, and America was broken. It was not a way to address a serious issue on its 15th anniversary.
