Madelyn Dean- Obama on Climate Change: The Trends are Terrifying

In the New York Times Obama was interviewed on climate change. Obama's leading statement was "And it's terrifying" due to the charts and graphs on the day to day basis he is shown on climate change. Throughout his two terms as president this idea has been made aware to the people of America that we have to change our reliance on coal burning and fossil fuels so that in the long run we maintain a more stable and functioning planet. Obama mentions Copenhagen, where he met with the leaders of Brazil, South Africa, India, and China where his leading argument was that we need full on global change. And deeper into it we need the developing countries in on it too. Obama intends to stay involved and active in his post-presidency.

Obama already feels that we as Americans are aware of climate change but rather than doing something about it, we just don't see the change day to day.  During the Industrial revolution the use of fossil fuels sky rocketed from the discovery of oil in America and its use for energy. The effects of the Industrial Revolution not only effected the ecosystem at the time but brought us where we are today and the struggles we face with climate change.

  1. Climate change seems to go under the radar recently with all the hype about other political issues. But we as humans only have one earth so we need to be actively doing things to preserve it.

  2. Climate change is real and we really need to start taking relevant actions to save our earth. I recently watched the opening ceremony of the 2016 Olympics and for this topic to be presented at the Olympics, should make us aware that this is a real issue and not a political one.
