Kobe Williams (1st Period) - Laos "Secret War"

It has been released that back during the Vietnam War, the US had a CIA-led mission. Which is now left a deadly legacy of what is now known as America's "secret war".
Back during the Vietnam War in 1964-1973, the US dropped over two million tons of bombs in the country of Laos (one of the heaviest bombardments in history). The worst part is that there are still over 80 million unexploded bombs scattered across the country. These bombs explode at random now, causing many casualties. Mainly in children who find the bombs, thinking that they're toys.
To this day, less than 1% of the bombs have been removed. But there is a campaign attempting to be made in order to fix this problem.

This article is rather heart-wrenching. Especially imagining the hundreds of children who get harmed or killed everyday America's mess. But after reading through this article over an over, I still do not understand the US's reasoning for dropping so much artillery upon this one country. Overall, I really do hope that America can help to fix this problem in a logical way. Otherwise, I don't know what can be done for the poor people of Laos.

  4. Quite unfortunate for Laos, just another third world country praying the price of American recklessness with their powerful military.
