In this article about 9/11, it talks about the different aspects teachers are using to teach kids about the attack on the World Trade Centers. Up until this year, every one in high school was alive for the attack on September 11th, but now, the freshman class in high school (on average) was not alive. Many teachers talked about the struggle of teaching such an important and tragic event. This article discusses the many ways educators have been approaching the way 9/11 is taught. Some teachers make the students research a specific person that was there; other teachers recreate a certain chain of events that occured that morning. Some educators have written a curriculum that can be taught for 9/11. All history teachers stress the importance of the study of September 11, 2001.
This article was published only a couple days before September 11, 2016. After reading this article, parents could deliberately then stress the importance of this date to their children. Since 9/11 seems so current and relevant still, parents might not think to teach their kids under age 15 about what really went on that day. That's why this article is so important today. In this article, Chris Causey stated, "To them, it's history, just like Pearl Harbor..." which is true. Teaching the historic events of 9/11 are somewhat like teaching the events of Pearl Harbor now. Teachers must realize that students weren't alive to experience the nation's shock.

I agree, I think it's important that younger generations understand what happened on this tragic day for America. Also it's important to know so that we never make this mistake again in the future hopefully. - Skyler Tepedino
