he idea of human cloning and how it has stirred a debate in
society, raising moral and ethical issues. Ever since when Dr.Ian Wilmot
revealed he had successfully cloned an adult sheep named Dolly in
1997, there has been many discussions on wither or not to clone humans. As the
human race start to expand and advance into new technology. Ask yourself do we
really want scientists in labs creating something that is supposed to be
special? Human lives are not research material and scientists should not have
control over a person’s identity and unique characteristics.
Summary:While researching on cloning in the world, one of the websites, “Gallup Poll”, stated as of May, 2010, 63 percent of the adults surveyed believed it was morally wrong to clone animals. With this same poll, 83 percent of the adults surveyed believed it was morally insane to clone a human. Human cloning is wrong because it is inhumane, clones are considered as distinct individuals, look at the realistic side of cloning. Imagine a child growing up without knowing who their parents are, finding out that they were cloned from scientists in a test tube. This changes the cycle of human reproduction, which makes a clone into an object not a distinct individual.Just picture in your head knowing the only reason why the person you loved was created is because of some sick man that needed a heart and lung to shortly make his life longer and this came at the expense to shorten your loved ones life, also.. For example, Dolly the first cloned animal, before scientists put her down she had many diseases such as lung disease, arthritis, and her cells also showed signs of premature aging. This shows that there may be a possibility that human clones could die or may cause premature illness.Furthermore, cloning is a very expensive project, and as a human being I feel as if scientists should focus on problems that we already have instead of developing them. For instance,we should find cures for diseases such as cancer and many other deadly diseases people are suffering from everyday. New techniques are constantly being developed but even the success rate is very low which means instead of solving problems we will be creating them.
I see what you're saying, but I think that the love a clone could feel would be more real than parental love because it isn't forced. I also think that if everyone was upfront with clones about where they came from and accepting of them there wouldn't be too many issues.
ReplyDeleteI think this would be a cool experiment. However I would not like to live in a Brave New World setting
ReplyDeleteI think society sees human cloning as so scary because it takes away the need for one of our biggest purposes in the world: carrying on the human race. The idea of someone being able to create a person in a test tube is a very terrifying possibility.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you! Cloning would defiantly take away our individualism as humans and make the world feel dreary because everyone is the exact replica of each other
