What Advanced Stats Tell Us About Super Bowl 50 Matchup-- Demi Tomasides

Guys, it's here again. Superbowl 50 is getting underway. The teams just landed in San Francisco and are getting used to the San Fran atmosphere. This year, according to the article is, "a dream match up" due to the Carolina Panther's top offence and the Denver Bronco's top defense. Last week the Broncos narrowly beat the New England Patriots in a great game for the AFC Championship and their 2016 spot in the Superbowl, while the Panther's annihilated the Arizona Cardinals.
Peyton Manning is the Broncos genius quarterback. At 39, his time as a QB is catching up to him, but what makes him irreplaceable and no doubt a hall-of-famer is his ability to make smart decisions on the field. A bit of history for you: Manning had some intense neck surgery around 5 years ago and he was out for a while. He was playing for the Indianapolis Colts at the time but once he got back they dropped him. The Broncos tossed away their current QB (Tim Tebow) and picked up Manning, which was a very risky decision. Obviously it served as a good decision considering they've been to the Superbowl 2 out of the 4 years he's been with them.

I am very excited for the Superbowl and as you may have picked up, my team, the Denver Broncos, are in it. This could very well be Peyton's last year. In fact, after the Bronco-Patriot game (one of many rivalry games between the two) he turned to the Pat's head coach and told him thank you and that,"this could be my last rodeo". The oldest player to ever play in the NFL has been George Blanda at 48. Blanda gave a new face to American football and had "a slewn of records to his name when he retired" including all time leading scorer. One of the things that made him so legendary, besides his age, is that he was really an incredible player that inspired three decades of fans. The NFL is really a young game, so when smart, great players stay in the league for as long as Blanda and Manning have they really set a new standard and are respected on many levels.
