Victoria Garza "A Super Bowl Reunion 35 Years After Iran Hostages' American Homecoming."

In November of 1979, 52 Americans were taken hostage in Iran. After 444 days of captivity, they were released in January 1981. On January 25, 1981, the hostages returned to the US. This particular day just so happened to be Super Bowl Sunday. The country's attention was divided between the return of the hostages and the game. Some people held signs saying things such as "The Real Super Bowl: U.S. 52 - Iran 0". Yesterday, the same hotel invited the ex-hostages to watch the Super Bowl together to honor their emotional homecoming 35 years earlier.

The Super Bowl has always been a "must-see" among football fans in the U.S. It has a particular significance to these ex-hostages because it was they day they finally returned home. I think it was considerate of the hotel owners to think of this group of people after so many years. It was an opportunity for them to reunite and celebrate their years of safety after their hostage situation. This relates to U.S. history because it shows how the army and those involved in the government can be put into danger while serving our country.

What a Heartwarming story honoring those who have been grossly mistreated.

  2. America has done very well in honoring their troops. I hope that all is well, and this cruelty will soon end.
