Robert Gilliam, Prd 5 - The Citadel Investigates Cadets Who Wore KKK-like Hoods While Singing Christmas Carols

Summary: A group of students at a South Carolina college are being suspended due to dressing up, jokingly, in KKK uniforms and singing Christmas Carols. These students were photographed by a woman, who posted these pictures to Facebook. The College's president decided that this was a bit too far, thus resulting in suspension proceedings. This college is also a college known for other counts of general racism, KKK, and Nazi imagery taking place on campus. "Racism — defined as a "commission of an act of an immoral or vicious nature" — is considered to be a Class 1 offense and subject to immediate suspension or expulsion.”

Analysis: This is a fairly interesting encounter I suppose. The thought of racism in general is an interesting thing, but it being taken so jokingly like such, makes it even more interesting. Given all the things that the KKK has done to impact the history of the U.S, such as attacking of vulnerable blacks, as well as counts of wrongdoing to Jews, Catholics, and Liberals. These actions consisted of rape, castrations, and even murder. These disgusting acts are not acts to be made fun of. Can we move past such actions to promote the ongoing of American societal progress? I would hope so.
