It was confirmed that North Korea has succeeded in launching a satellite into orbit, North Korea claims the satellite's purpose is gathering information on weather and space exploration. Kim Jong Un, North Korea's leader, is facing skepticism about the true purpose of the satellite and is said to have violated the ban on testing military technology. The United Nations are worried about what the satellite is capable of, some say that it's a cover for a long-range missile that could target the U.S.
With all the stunts that North Korea has been pulling lately (the testing of a Hydrogen bomb in January) this is obviously causing lots of tension around the world. With such a secluded country as North Korea it's hard to figure out how much they are actually capable of, it also doesn't help that their young leader, Kim Jong Un, is so easily provoked; one wrong move and it could cause another world war. This reminds me of the Cold War and the space race; both the United States and the Soviet Union were racing against each other to produce the technology to go into space and gain the upper hand. Since we aren't really sure how capable North Korea is technology wise I think it best if we keep an eye on the satellite and work to figure out how capable the machine is. It's best to not make any rash decisions yet.

the leader of North Korea is crazy so who knows what this man is up to. i agree that for now all we can do is keep watch but i don't think its in Korea's best interest to start anything because several countries are against them at the moment.
