'Deadpool' has record box office openingThe article I read from CNN is about the release of the 20th Century Fox Film, 'Deadpool', and its record breaking opening weekend. Although the movie is about an unlikely hero, played by Ryan Reynolds, the movie itself "had the biggest opening ever for an R-rated film."According to the article, the movie earned an estimate of about $135 million at the domestic box office this weekend. The film also became the biggest February opening ever.
Aside from making recent history, cinema in general has been a huge part of American history since the Roaring 20's, a time of economic uproar and advances for the United States. During this time, Hollywood become the movie capital of the world and began to become what we know it as today. I have personally not seen 'Deadpool' yet, however I am not surprised buy its success in the theaters. Hoping to see it soon, considering Marvel has made some of my favorite movies.

That was a nice connection back to history. It's cool to see how far we've come.

Matthew Homsher 9th- It's interesting to see how far superhero films have come, as a genre, in the last few years. The production value is far superior to what it was historically.
ReplyDeleteDead pool has always been a commonly known character, its weird that it took movies this long to realize it would be an amazing success. (Alejandra Hernandez 6th period)
