Did you know that there is a limit to how much calories we can burn through exercise? This theory comes from a study of 322 adults living in the United States, Africa, and Jamaica. The researchers found that the participants who moved more burned more calories but only to a point. Even though the participants weren't doing the same activities, burning calories would still be the same. One researcher says that you can't push the calories out. Ours bodies try to keep itself balanced. If you really want to lose weight, you should focus on what you eat and eat less.
I found this article very interesting. As a person who does a lot of exercise, I agree with this article. I'm guessing that's why we get tired so easily. This reminded of when ladies thought that being really skinny was what they needed to be for their husbands and for their daughters to find husbands. They would put on corsets as tight as they can so their waist would shrink.

Unrealistic expectations of beauty have really hurt health in the past, so it's good to see that more people are becoming aware that the best way to lose pounds is through constant exercise and healthy eating. I agree, and it's important to remember that our body is always trying to achieve homeostasis!
ReplyDeleteI am glad to see people finally becoming aware of how unhealthy our generation is.
ReplyDeletei agree that people should be aware of what they eat but not to the point where they could injure themselves to fit a societal standard of beauty. If you eat less your body goes into starvation mode and you retain body fat more easily making you able to gain weight.
