Peter Arizof writes this on canesinsight.com: Miami, Florida comes to a milestone after hiring Lakatriona Brunson as the first female football coach in high school (in FL). A man, Luther Campbell will be working gas the assistant coach--flipping stereotypes of women being the assistant to men.
This all comes back to Women's Suffrage during World War 2 and how slowly, but surely, women got the right to vote and job opportunities became more abundant. Unfortunately, equal pay is still a current issue the women's rights activists have been diligently fighting for. I think it's a little funny that the fact a woman coaching a high school football team made CNN news, but whatever makes the news makes the new I suppose. The day that women receive the same jobs as men, with equal pay, (without a big deal) will be the day early 20th century women will or would be proud of.
