Blake Fitzgerald and Brittany Harper have been on the run for 5 days, committing crimes in multiple different southeastern states. Finally they accepted their inevitable fate and broke into one last Florida home to bring closure to their crime spree. The "Bonnie and Clyde" pair held a couple and their 2 year old child at gunpoint, explained their situation, and asked to use the house phone. That's all they wanted from the family- to use their phone to call home and say goodbye.
Not much later, the police caught up to them. A shootout ended in death for Blake Fitzgerald and arrest for Brittany Harper, who will be charged with home invasion, robbery, and grand theft auto.
This situation sounds like a Western movie, but with a depressing ending, and it also kind of makes me laugh. Obviously it connects with APUSH because of the Bonnie and Clyde analogy, who were a criminal couple during the Great Depression/gangster era.
Wow, it's interesting to see people emulating this behavior.
