Droids taking our jobs -Julianne Swaykus

With all of the advancements in technology, robots that are capable of doing all the functions of a human will start taking all of our jobs. "Verdi said there will always be some need for human work in the future, but robot replacements could drastically change the landscape, with no professional safe, and men and women equally effected." Robots have raised productivity but cut down on employment and currently there are 200,000 industrial robots in the country.
This is worrisome because the use of robots will increase productivity and efficiency so human labor will not be necessary leaving millions jobless. Although we are making leaps and bounds in technology it could ultimately drastically effect many Americans financially causing a rise in poverty rates.

  1. This is a conflicting topic. Yes, it is great to use robots to produce products quicker and more efficiently; however, the employment rate with go down and so will the economy.

  2. It's weird to think that I might lose a job one day to a robot. This could really take a toll on unemployment and poverty in the U.S.

  3. Everyday technology is advancing. I do believe that robots can someday take over jobs which can be a good thing and bad at the same time.
